Thank you so much for stopping by. Just in case you want to know more about me, here it is….
My name is Jennifer and I live on a tiny map dot in rural West Tennessee. Before moving here, I was a nanny in Houston. I loved helping people care for their children, but I was ready for a different kind of life. I decided to come to West Tennessee because I had family here. I immediately found a good job at a non-profit organization and worked there for just over three years. I became very disillusioned about what it meant to be a not for profit organization and decided to go a different direction. So a friend and I lost our minds and bought a herd of sheep and became farmers. This city girl learned to drive a tractor, grow a garden, and pull a trailer. I now know what good hay looks like, what ratio of protein to fiber a sheep needs, and how to pull a lamb out of a struggling mother. I have been up to my knees in mud and poo and up to my elbows in lamb goo. I have come a long way from bi-weekly mani/pedis and daily Starbucks. I also decided to go back to school and pursue a degree in History. While at school, I met some wonderful ladies who invited me to be a part of my local no-kill Humane Society where we will do anything to get cats spayed and neutered, including loading 60 cats into 5 vehicles to utilize a super-low cost clinic over two hours away in Nashville. This place brought back my faith in non-profit organizations. It is an all-volunteer organization, which means that no one in a decision making role takes any kind of salary or benefit. It is ran by 7 people who give endlessly (on top of their paying jobs and responsibilities at home) of their time, resources, and sanity to give the animals in our area their best chance. So, that’s what I do. As far as who I am, I am an old woman stuck in a young(ish) person’s body. I like to be home and in my recliner watching TV by time it gets dark (even if that is 4:30 in the afternoon). I am hopelessly messy and the pickiest eater on the planet. I like my more ice than soda in my drinks and could eat plain pasta for dinner every night. Well, that about sums it up. I have no aspirations to be a famous writer or anything, I just have a lot of words all pent up inside that need a place to go and at least here, people can choose to ignore them 🙂
